This is a JUDGMENT FREE zone...

I often say, "This is a judgement free zone... which means you are free to judge as much as you damn please." 

Our human mind is evolved to problem solve and judge, and it's remarkably good at both. We are judging machines. You should be judging, and judging all the time. It's in our nature and part of how our brain works. It is innate and like thoughts, most judgements are formed before one can consciously control them. To deny, suppress, or feel shame about judging is like feeling shame for breathing or urinating. Try as you might, you can only hold it back for so long, and now you're just feeing bad for being human. 

The real issue is not that you are judging vs not judging. The real issue is when you are not skillful at judging. You judge incorrectly and don't look for more evidence to improve your judgement. You hold onto and identify personally with your judgements, so that changing them makes your ego die a little (something your ego is reluctant to do). You don't update your judgements with new data or new mental models. You aren't actively honing your judgement skills to become better at forming judgements. Make sure that your judgement prowess is a potent as you can make it so that your judgements align as closely with reality as they can get. 

This unskillful judging is where people fall into the prison of their own creations. They become close minded, un-interesting, un-insightful people. What a waste of human talent. What a source of human suffering.

If you want to live a healthy life, embrace judgement and your natural ability to do it. It is essential to navigating this complex world. Judge. Judge early. Judge often. Judge consciously. Judge proudly. AND go back frequently to judge your judging.
