This is a little gem I came across. It is a piece posted on The White Coat Investor written by Dr. Douglas Segan titled "10 Easy Ways for Medical Students, Residents and Early-Career Physicians to Sabotage Their Journey to Financial Serenity".

In accordance with it's title, the piece goes over 10 common and avoidable financial mistakes that physicians make.

For this post, let's take a look at #8

Yep, that's right. Divorce is a costly mistake, and doctors are by no means immune. In fact some might argue that all that delayed gratification which can come from focusing on academic success in high school, college, medical school, and residency (a cool 15 years minimum) might make physicians more predisposed to the impulse of jumping into a poorly planed relationship. An attempt to finally get ahold of that gratification.

Divorce can drastically alter the mental, physical, and financial health of individuals even if they are in the upper echelon of earning potential.

This factor must be taken into account when caring for divorced men because without being prompted many won't bring it up independently.
