Your Penis Is Your Best Health Barometer

This post is exactly what it sounds like. I am going to explain why your penis is your best health barometer.

Let's pause for a moment and really appreciate the complexity and nuance of this dangling piece of tissues which is simultaneously the most taboo and the most hilarious organ of the body.
The penis is full of microvasculature, meaning that its function is dependent on small blood vessels which are the first to get clogged and are the first to manifest the major consequences of endothelial damage. Vascular issues occur in the penis about 7 years before you start getting symptoms in the blood vessels of the heart. Thus, your penis is a great "canary in the coal mine" for vascular health.
The penis is innervated by un-myelineaed peripheral nerves. These nerves are the least protected and most susceptible nerve-type to damage from metabolic issues like high blood sugars. Thus, impotence is one of the first manifestations of diabetes wreaking havoc on your body.
The penis depends on robust blood flow to get an erection and is dependent on non-leaky veins to maintain that erection. Thus, both are excellent proxies for overall cardiovascular health and can be assessed by erection robustness.
Hormones like testosterone and cortisol can directly and profoundly affect your ability to produce and maintain an erection. Thus, the penis is a sensitive barometer for hormonal health.
Like other muscles in your body, your penile tissue can atrophy from underuse and poor nutrition. Thus, the stature of your penis can be thought of as a surrogate for your ability to grow muscle and maintain muscle.
It's difficult to get and maintain erections as well as ejaculate on time (think premature and delayed ejaculation issues) if you are stressed, depressed, super anxious, or have myriad of other mental health issues. Thus your penis is a sensitive barometer for mental and emotional health.
It's difficult to have good sex if you are lacking in your connectedness to a partner or not living in your 'purpose'. Thus I would argue the state of your penis reflects the health of your social health pillar as well as the life philosophy pillar.
The list really goes on and on...
Your penis lies at the nexus of the metabolic, social, cardiovascular, hormonal, nervous, and psychiatric aspects of health. If any of these systems are off, they are going to almost always manifest in the penis first, making it the most helpful barometer of overall health we have.
If you have issues, don't be passive. Get help and start investigating why your barometer is telling you something is off. If you don't care for your penis... no one else will.
